Farmers Harvesting Millet Crop at a village in Jaipur
As I cycled towards the rural areas adjacent to Jaipur, I caught sight of farmers getting ready to begin harvesting Bajra crop sown around summer. Harvesting is mostly done by peasant women who are experts in this labour intensive work. They start work early, around 6 am. By afternoon, two women can harvest more than an acre of the field. One can see farmers weeding out unwanted vegetation from the fields. While others are preparing to harvest a bumper crop. This year has been exceptionally good for Bajra crop as it has been the last two years. These farmers are reaping good results from the hybrid variety of Bajra that they are growing in their fields.

आम किसान बाजरे की फसल की खरपतवार कर रहे हैं कई किसानों के यहां बाजरे की कटाई होने की तैयारी पूरे ज़ोर से है। इनकी इस बार की बाजरे की फसल अधिक बम्पर हुई है।किसानों ने बताया कि यह पहली बार नहीं गत दो वर्षों से अच्छी पैदावार ले रहे हैं। ये लोग हाईब्रिड बाजरे की किस्म की बुआई करते है।
