Picture beautifully bedecked ladies twirling gracefully to age-old music and you will be transported to the zenana in Rajasthan. Ghoomer, the classic folk dance of Rajasthan originated among the Bhil tribes of South Rajasthan. Over time, this spontaneous dance forms became popular among almost all the communities. The name Ghoomer comes from the twirling steps in the dance. Women dress up in elaborately embroidered traditional ensembles, bedecked in exquisite jewellery, and dance in a circular formation. Ghoomer has become a popular folk dance not just in India but also internationally, and folk artists regularly perform at festivals. It was a historic Ghoomer event at Mandore gardens in Jodhpur when around 1600 women performed the dance and awed the audience with their graceful movements

ये ऐतिहासिक घूमर नृत्य 1600 महिलाओं ने मिल कर मंडोर उध्धान में किया।घूमर नृत्य की मुख्य रूप से शुरूआत राजस्थान के दक्षिणी इलाकों में बसी भील जाति ने किया। आजकल घूमर नृत्य पूरे राजस्थान के सभी इलाको में भी किया जाता हैं। घूमर देश विदेश में राजस्थान की पहचान बन गया हैं। घूमर का अर्थ है घूमकर मदमस्त हो कर नाचना।

नृत्य में महिलाएं अस्सी कली का घाघरा पहन कर व पारदर्शी रंगबिरंगे ओड़ने व ज़ेवर पहन कर गोलाकार घूमते हुए यह डांस करती हैं।अपनी मोहक अदाओं से मधुर संगीत की ताल पर यह नृत्य सभी का दिल जीत लेता हैं। राजस्थान के लोक कलाकार समय समय पर घूमर नृत्य का प्रदर्शन देश विदेश में करते आ रहे हैं। नृत्य के दौरान महिलाओं और पुरूषों का एक दल गायन करता हैं। रंग बिरंगी  राजस्थानी पोशाक और आभूषणों से सजी महिलाएं घूमर नृत्य करते हुए बहुत आकर्षक लगती हैं।
